Extravaganza 2024 Opener

When the worship leader and musical director for Extravaganza 2024 approached me about a sick opener for the first worship set I had to say “yes.” We bounced around a few ideas but ultimately felt that we had three priorities: make it electric, use nostalgia to our advantage, and incorporate the states that were attending the event. We accomplished those goals pretty well.

I started the video with a 25 minute countdown of the Southern Nazarene University logo(the hosting university). This was obviously inspired by the classic The Office episode(s4 e6 for the nerds like me:). From there, it moves into a remake of the THX movie intro. This portion was for sure the most challenging in After Effects. The glitching states and lyrics were fairly simple to accomplish. Just a lot of layers and a lot of track mattes!
